Full Lucifer Exhaust for the Golf MK4 R32 Install + Tested

First off, this system is very closely mirrored to the Milltek exhaust system, just better value and in our opinion these days, better made.

Lucifer Full Exhaust System

Here we have:

  • Manifolds
  • Sports hi-flow cats
  • Non resonated cat back

The install was done by APS based in Brackley, UK to a 2003 150,000 mile 3dr Reflex Silver R32 which was standard. Many thanks to Ed and his team for fitting it in around all the other great cars in the shop.

As you can see and as APS will atest, the Lucifer system is very well made and fits to the car better than the Milltek. The luxury of improving an already better than stock system.

Lucifer R32 System

So once installed, what does it sound like and what does it drive like?

Initial start up, a new intial crisp rasp sound, very short and subtle but instantly noticeable from stock. Then tickle the throttle and oh my, much louder (the resonated is probably still louder than stock but not this loud - expectedly) and with a big rasp as you get near 3,500 revs.

On the move with no map, in stock format you can progress with at least 50% throttle and not get much noise, other than the standard 2-3,500 boom at 40-60mph in higher gears. With the Lucifer non resonated system, with sports cats again with no map you have to use a lot less throttle to try and drive it as quietly as you could stock. I'd say 35+% and you're waking the beast, put your foot down through 2nd, 3rd, 4th and on and you're waking the beast with great crackles and pops as you lift off.

The boom is still present in higher gears cruising in the 2-3,500rpm range and as you'd expect with a bigger diameter bore, it is louder. This is where a map could potentially smooth out the boom but that's still to be proven.

Overall, a great product with an even greater sound. Just be prepared for more fuel stops as you can't help but boot it more often than before to hear the roar.
